Projects Supported by CSA 

Community Service Alliance (CSA) currently supports six grassroots organizations in the provinces of Hato Mayor, Bahourco, Maria Trinidad Sanchez and Puerto Plata.  Through support from volunteer groups and other donors, CSA provides direct technical assistance to local organizations to enable them to bring their projects to fruition.  All projects are planned and executed directly alongside community Partners.   The table below is a summary of the projects and respective accomplishments.

  • Training program initiated: 50 women reached in a week-long training focused on women’s health and in leadership/team-building.

BahorucoWorld Vision, Neyba *Medical outreach*Project targeted to reduce malnutrition  (research, training of mothers, family gardens, home repairs) *Training/outreach with youth
  •  800  families currently sponsored by World Vision have received periodic check-ups by way of three medical outreaches per year.
  • 4 cases of infants that have been detected with severe health problems referred for surgery.   
  • Planting of 60 family gardens.  Many of these gardens currently yielding produce. 
  • Creation of two groups of 50 mothers trained in themes related to nutrition.  .
  • 16 homes repaired (dirt floors replaced with cement floors) 
  • Over 50 youth leaders trained in drug prevention.

El Mango, La Quintina, La Hebra El 30, Soñador and Lajas, Puerto Plata Fathers of Claret Congregation & Parents Association *Improvement school infrastructure*Youth and teacher training *Facilitation of educational summer camps
  • Construction of an additional large classroom at an elementary school in the community of El Mango that allowed 80 additional children to enter school. 
  • Construction of a primary school with 3 large classrooms in the community of la Hebra. 
  • Training facilitated for youth and teachers from the community of El Mango.  
  • More than 500 children reached during summer camps Soñador y Lajas.
